The Blizards settled between Dividing Creek and Maurice River, William Pepper, son of William Pepper, of Somerset Co., MD, bought land on the Yockwock tract of Dr. James Wasse at Dividing Creek, the original, unrecorded deed for this land still exists. Lancelott Sockwell settled on the site of Newport. He married Eve, daughter of Dickason Sheppard, who owned the land later covered by Newport. Prior to 1668, Lancelott Sockwell I, died in Lancaster County, Virginia. He was the ancestor of the Sockwells of Cumberland County, NJ. --- From Shelhorn Genealogy P423 The earliest mention of a Blizard in Maryland is of William Blissard, of Kent Island 1637 Mar 22, when he named Henry Crawly, of Kent Island, his executor and sole legatee... In the 1850 Census, one finds a young girl Catherine Blizzard living with an Elijah and Clarissa Husted. First, it took me a while to derive this, but matching the Hannah B. Husted to John Blizzard marriage date and Kate's birthdate, it is deduced that Elijah and Clarissa are her grandparents. She was living with them, because her mother was newly married and had a few teenage boys and girls to deal with. Elijah Husted is buried under a cedar tree in the front row of the old section of Cedarville Presbyterian Church. Clarissa could also be there, but I have no knowledge of that. Ollie and Liz and some children are also in that first row and next to Elijah. All the Blizzard stones are shiny new granite while Elijah's is weathered white sandstone. The original Blizzard stones were stolen and used to shore a bridge foundation. The wife of the culprit made him own up to his deed. with Elizabeth (nee Ballanger 69) Blizzard Eliza A 70 William 70 John B 70 Oliver 70 Abigail P 70 b18131217 b b1815 b1823 b1824 Richard P 70 Alfred C 70 Mary E 70 Lemuel D 70 Francis E 70 b1827 b18290929 b1831 b1834 b18370415 Martha A 70 b1839 Page 12 Page 13 n, to Isaac Blizzard 69 with Lydia Franklin 70 Phebe 70 Brooks 70 Lewis 70 David 70 b1838 b1841 b1844 b1849 b1853 Charles 70 b1858 Franklin Blizzard 70 bm 1838 ___ __ to Isaac Blizzard 69 with Lydia Phebe Blizzard 70 bf 1841 ___ __ to Isaac Blizzard 69 with Lydia Henry Brooks Blizzard 70 bm 1844 ___ __ to Isaac Blizzard 69 with Lydia Lewis Blizzard 70 bm 1849 ___ __ to Isaac Blizzard 69 with Lydia David Blizzard 70 bm 1853 ___ __ to Isaac Blizzard 69 with Lydia Charles Blizzard 70 b1858 ___ __ to Isaac Blizzard 69 with Lydia Page 14 n., to Oliver Blizzard 69 with Elizabeth (nee Ballanger 69) Blizzard Eliza A 70 William 70 John B 70 Oliver 70 Abigail P 70 b18131217 b b1815 b1823 b1824 Richard P 70 Alfred C 70 Mary E 70 Lemuel D 70 Francis E 70 b1827 b18290929 b1831 b1834 b18370415 Martha A 70 b1839 Eliza Ann Blizzard 70 bf 1813 Dec 17 to Oliver Blizzard 69 and Elizabeth (nee Ballenger 69) Blizzard mm never n. 1850 idiot n. insane c. 1850 U.
